John Harley, Ph.D.
Dr. Harley is a dynamic technology and business leader with over 30 years of experience in the MEMS field. He started his career with a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied microscale heat and mass transfer phenomena. His career is marked by deep experience in design and computer modeling of microscale devices, coupled with many years of microfabrication experience, encompassing process development, design for manufacturing, and transfer of MEMS products from early-stage development to volume production. His experience includes extensive work on biomedical MEMS, Silicon Optical Benches (SiOB) & other optical MEMS, microphones, magnetic sensors, LED backplanes, and micropumps, including 20 issued and pending patents. He is also an accomplished business leader with experience in M&A, sales, marketing, and C-suite leadership. In his most recent role as President of Miltenyi-Owl Biomedical, he led the company to unprecedented increases in MEMS chip production and yield improvement, resulting in production of the world’s fastest MEMS cell sorter chips for clinical immunotherapy applications.
